The Lotte Hotel Yangon
Located in the heart of Yangon, the Lotte Hotel Yangon offers guests a wide range of services and amenities. Rooms are non-smoking and have 24-hour room service. Amenities include cable TV, blackout curtains, air conditioning, and linen service. Select rooms have separate living and dining areas. A concierge can help guests arrange airport transfers, tickets, and tours. The hotel also offers laundry and dry cleaning services.
Located in the Inya Lake area of the city, the Lotte Hotel Yangon is within walking distance of the city’s main attractions. It is close to the Shwedagon Pagoda, as well as interesting dining options. The hotel is rated five stars, and features an indoor pool and fitness center. It is also 7.3 km from the city’s central railway station, so guests can get around easily.
The hotel has been operating with a loss for the past three years. Its net loss last year was $19.2 million and its sales dropped by $23.9 million. The number of foreign visitors in Myanmar fell below 4.4 million in 2019 before the COVID-19 outbreak. This has weakened tourism, which hurts hotel sales. Additionally, interest expenses have ballooned.
The Lotte Hotel Yangon was jointly opened by POSCO International and Hotel Lotte in late 2017. The two companies have 75% shares in a company called POSCO International Global Development Pte., which is responsible for the hotel’s management. The hotel is situated near the Shwedagon Pagoda and Inya Lake.
